LET GOD HELP YOU

It was a cool evening just before the Harmattan sets in. A small boy was kicking his rubber ball all over the place, His father  sat nearby enjoying the cool breeze of the evening suddenly, the ball on the roof of on the all the house and got stuck there. The “clever” boy quickly got a long stick with which to dislodge his ball from the roof. However, because of his little stature, whenever he move near the house he could not see the top of the roof . When he moved back to a point where he could see the ball on the roof he would be too far from the house!

After several futile efforts to reach his ball, the boy in despiration went to meet his father. With tears in his eyes he appealed to the old man for help. The father looked at him rather sadly and said. Didn’t you see me here all this time? Why do you have to wait till you are tired and frustratedbefore coming to me for help?

The boy did not say a word. The father got up in a moment the ball was again in the boy’s eager hands. “Thank you daddy”, he said. Hope you have learnt your lesson?, the father replied.

Many of us are like the boy in this story. We are true sons and daughters of God, born-again, sanctified, holy-living and tongue-talking. Yet we carry our burdens about apparently ignoring the fact that our father in heavenis more than able to solve all problems. Ephesians 3:20 says, Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Of course, we know that He is able but we feel we should try our best first. After all we are strong, wise, and experienced but did not 1st Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”? If we are to cast all our cares upon Him then why are we still caring part of the burden ourselves?

Could it be pride or ignorance? Could it be that we really do not trust him to do a good job if we surrender all our plans to him? But did not Psalm 37:5 encourage us to commit all our ways unto the Lord, trust him an dthat he shall bring it to pass? What about the additional witness to Psalm 55:22 and Proverb 16:3? Cast thy burden upon the lord and he shall sustain thee! He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Commit thy works unto the lord, and thy thoughts shall be established! Are not the words of God forever settled?

What is it that worries you so much? Your health? Has the doctor said, “There is no more hope for you? Is that the doctor’s report? Then what about the Lord’s report? Did he not say that “He has no pleasure in the death, even of a sinner”? did he not say “You shall not die but live to declare the glory of the Lord? Can the dead praise him? Can those who go down to the grave magnify him? Isaiah 38:18-19. Did he not say that he choose you so that you can praise him?

Why would you rather believe a doctor instead of the great physician? Is anything too difficult for the Lord of all flesh? Jeremiah 32:26.

Are you barren? Is that your burden? Who made your womb? Is it not Jesus? If anything is wrong with that womb, can he not amend it or replace it? Did not Luke 1:37 says For with God nothing shall be impossible”? Is God a liar? Is he not the one who said “Be fruitful and multiply…” in Genesis 1:28? Has he changed his mind? After all, he said in Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever”. Even if the womb is dead at least it is not rotten yet?

Remember the case of Lazarus, he was not only dead but rotten. Did not Jesus raise him up? Has Jesus changed? Hebrew 13:8 says that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever!”

Is it your business that is giving you some concern? Do you think he does care about you too? Did not his word say that he wished us above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prosper, how can your business fail? Unless, of course you do not take him as your partner or maybe he is your junior patrner!

Brothers and Sisters let God help you. Bring your problems to Jesus and hands off!

That song writer said it well:

What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and grieves to bear

What a privelege to carry,

Every thing to god in prayer,oh what a peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear

All because we do not carry

Every thing to God in prayer.
